New Orleans is very excited to be the host city of the 2012 NOLA NCAA Championships, the pinnacle of the NCAA season.
Last year’s hosting of the Southeast regional championships were but a dress-rehearsal for this year’s championships. The 2012 NCAA Men’s Division Basketball Tournament began with 68 teams, and progresses to the Final Four, which will fight it out at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in our beautiful city. The National Semifinals will be held on March 31, 2012, and the National Championship Game will commence on April 2, 2012.
Known as the safe-house for thousands of residents during Hurricane Katrina, the Superdome is home to the NFL’s New Orleans Saints. Along with the honor of hosting the NCAA Final Four Championships this year, it has also been selected to host the 2013 Super Bowl! Located on 52 acres of land, the Superdome is the largest fixed domed structure in the world, covering a 13-acre expanse. It can seat almost 76,500 fans!
While the NCAA Championships will only see a fraction of the NOLA population increase that happens during some of our festivals and annual events, basketball fans will be welcomed in true New Orleans style! So choose The Avenue Inn bed and breakfast for your home-base and true relaxing getaway during the NCAA events!
