spring fiestaEach year the New Orleans Spring Fiesta Association hosts the Spring Fiesta.  This classic event has helped to celebrate the area’s history, historic architecture, and the preservation of both since 1937.  This year, the Festival is celebrated on the weekends of March 22-23, 2014 and March 29-30, 2014, featuring the chance to visit gorgeous historic homes, courtyards, and gardens, a parade of horse-drawn carriages, the selecting of the Spring Fiesta Queen, and more!  Why not let Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast host your stay during this beloved historic event here in the Crescent City!

If you walk the streets of New Orleans neighborhood, you’re likely to see some gorgeous Antebellum architecture including grand Double-Gallery Houses (like Avenue Inn’s own home) and southern mansions.  Most of these houses are private homes which are closed to the public… until Spring Fiesta rolls around!  During this annual event, 20 homes and their grounds are opened annually to visitors on the two weekends of Spring Fiesta.

Tours aren’t the only activities available for participation and viewing:

  • Weekend I:  French Quarter Walking Tours, Presentation of the Queen and her Court at Jackson Square, “Night in New Orleans” horse-drawn carriage parade through the French Quarter, and additional home tours.
  • Weekend II: French Quarter Walking Tours and Home Tours

The local highlight of the event is the presentation of the Spring Fiesta Queen and her court at Jackson Square.  The ladies are presented in full-skirted finery, and are attended by young princesses and the escort of their choosing. Following the presentation, a small traditional parade of horse-drawn carriages makes its way through the French Quarter to the Gala Event that is held for the Queen and Court.  The parade is announced by a marching band and select Krewe involvement.  While it might not last long, any New Orleans parade is definitely worth seeing!

Tickets for the Walking Tours and Home Tours are available, with a Brunch/Home Tour option as well.

Consider a trip to NOLA during Spring Fiesta and enjoy the hospitality that only our historic bed and breakfast can offer!
