Don't Pass Up Our New Orleans Bed and Breakfast

...Just Minutes from the French Quarter

AVENUE INN BED and BREAKFAST - RECIPIENT OF THE BEDANDBREAKFAST.COM "BEST OF THE BEST" AWARD FOUR YEARS IN A ROW!

If you are looking for something different from a hotel experience, where all the rooms are the same; then you should try our New Orleans Garden District bed and breakfast without fear of losing all the contemporary amenities you've come to expect. Nestled among the centuries-old oaks on the famed St. Charles Avenue Streetcar line, this 1891 Thomas Sully mansion offers turn-of-the-century charm to match its historic location. Yet, we offer all of the important services and features of your favorite hotel. We are technologically up to date with free Wi-Fi, voice mail, and business center services.

And location? Just perfect! From the heart of the Uptown/Garden District, our guests need only minutes to reach the New Orleans French Quarter, Central Business District, Morial Convention Center, Tulane and Loyola Universities, Riverwalk shopping, St. Louis and Lafayette Cemeteries, the World War II Museum, Audubon Zoo, the Aquarium of the Americas, the Insectarium, and the Louisiana Superdome; all located in New Orleans, LA. Access to these destinations is easy via the streetcar that stops at the Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast's front door.

From our New Orleans bed and breakfast, take a casual stroll to antique shopping on Magazine Street, where you also will find specialty boutiques, fine bistros, and lively nightspots. Notable restaurants in our immediate area include Commander's Palace, Emeril Lagasse's Delmonico, Upperline, Pascal Manale's, Lilette, La Petite Grocery, Gautreau's, Zea's, Superior Seafood and Oyster Bar, and New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood (located next door to the Inn).

Enjoy the excitement of the New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration just steps from your room when you reserve at this convenient New Orleans lodging venue. All twenty-six Mardi Gras parades roll down St. Charles Avenue during "Carnival," passing in front of our New Orleans inn! A once-in-a-lifetime thrill or an annual tradition for the entire family.

The Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast New Orleans lodging experience features original high ceilings, hardwood floors, and period furnishings throughout. All of our rooms are unique and have been lovingly decorated by the owners. Our focus is a great night's rest, quality service, and value. Amenities include private baths, irons, hair dryers, free Wi-Fi, voice mail, and cable TV. A delicious complimentary continental breakfast is offered in the dining room or on the Creole-style veranda (weather permitting) each morning to start your day. You'll also love our snack tower, which is open 24/7 providing munchies, treats, fresh and preserved fruit, and bottled water. All of this is included in your room rate. Need to park your vehicle? That's free too!

Your resident innkeepers, Joe and Bebe, invite you to drift back to the splendor of the past during your visit to New Orleans, LA, without sacrificing modern conveniences. Their personalized service will put you in touch with "hard to get into" restaurants, arts and cultural events, museums, sightseeing, antique shops, and tours. They invite you to get away from the standard "hotel" experience
and learn what real New Orleans bed and breakfast hospitality is all about. Don't just visit New Orleans, live it!

Hi Everyone!

"Winter" is almost over. In fact the weather channel just declared that Spring is Here. Well, despite all the tough snow that much of the country got in March, we barely dropped below 40 degrees on any given day.  Yes, its a tough life down here in the South.  Time for some cold weather stress relief for anyone north of the Mason-Dixon line.  Spend a few minutes looking through our site and you will find great info for planning your trip to New Orleans. Check out all the "free" ideas on our "Things to Do" page.

Check out our Blog on this same page and see what is coming in the months ahead.  Great festivals, exciting local events and wonderful venues are all here just waiting for you to enjoy. And rates are reasonable on many select days too. Call Joe or Bebe now for all the details. Come enjoy our historic mansion and all of the unique venues and world class restaurants that fill our town.

Please note, over the next few months the Regional Transet Authority (RTA) will be replacing the 200 year old wooden ties that support the rails. But the transportation between here and the French Quarter is still available. Sections of the streetcar line will be down for repair. In the areas where the streetcar will not operate, the RTA is providing a shuttle bus service at no additional charge. It's $3.00 for an all day pass with unlimited riding. You give exact change to the conductor and you will get the pass. A single ride is $1.25, also exact change. For seniors, a single ride is $.40, but many forgo this savings in lieu of the convenience of the all day pass and no change worries.

The streetcar or bus will pass in front of our home about every 20 minutes during the day, but they are slower at night. We suggest a taxi home in the evenings.  We are happy to answer any questions about transportation that you may have.

Hope to see you here in our mansion home soon!
