Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast recommends New Orleans’ Red Fish Grill – a mid-priced, casual eatery which is known to be the best option for Bourbon Street dining. Owned by Ralph Brennan, a well-known gourmet restaurateur in New Orleans, this eatery puts great Gulf seafood on your place at a great price!
The internet is abuzz about the food, service and ambiance. Red Fish grill was voted Best Seafood Restaurant in a NewOrleansRestaurants.com survey 4 years in a row. Yahoo’s 219 raters give Red Fish Grill 4.5 out of 5 stars. And these opinionated diners give some definite recommendations of their favorite menu choices. Not-to-be-missed selections include the Red Fish, Gumbo, Shrimp Remoulade Napoleon, Filet Mignon (if you MUST eat steak), and the Double-Chocolate Bread Pudding for dessert!
The Red Fish Grill website even shares the recipes for a few of these favorites… but we recommend an evening out at the restaurant, leaving all the preparation to the talented Executive Chef Gregg Collier and his amazing staff!
Things to know: the restaurant is casual. And on Bourbon Street. And family-friendly. This is not a typical Brennan wine-and-dine experience, but a fun-filled, boisterous meal. However, besides the Main Dining Room, there are also the Lake and River Rooms for private events, and the intimate Wine room for small parties if you want a more restrained atmosphere in the French Quarter. For those who don’t mind eating on the fly, Red Fish has an Oyster Bar for drinks and bar-side eating.
The Red Fish Grill is open for lunch dining daily from 11am to 3pm. Dinner dining is offered Sunday through Thursday evenings from 5pm-10pm. The Oyster Bar is open Sunday through Thursday from 11am to 10pm, and covers dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5pm to 11pm.

We like the Red Fish Grill for the food, the service, the location, and the fun experience. It is a perfect prelude to an evening on Bourbon Street. But don’t take it from us. Catch a streetcar from our bed and breakfast to the New Orleans French Quarter and try it yourself!
