Foodfest: Regional Food Highlights From NOLA and Around the Country

If you have ever been to New Orleans, you know that you certainly won’t go hungry here in the Crescent City.  If you haven’t ventured this way, know that you are in for a gastronomical treat when you visit!  And the very best way to experience all the food offerings in this great city?  Come on by during one of our amazing food festivals!

The Avenue Inn Bed and Breakfast invites you to be our guests during the 2013 Foodfest on the weekend of March 22-24.  Enjoy an inviting room in our historic home, just a short streetcar-ride away from the French Market, where the FoodFest will be held.  Head to the French Quarter to spend a day of eating, shopping, and sightseeing, and know that your beautiful, secure guestroom will welcome your return!

What was once the Roadfood Festival, Foodfest is a celebration of regional specialties from all across the United States.  Each year, Royal Street comes alive with scents and flavors that will tempt your taste buds, and may even pique your desire to explore the country.  From NOLA’s beignets and po-boys to New York’s pizza, New England chowder, Tex-Mex, Philadelphia cheese steaks, Kentucky mint juleps, and so much more!  Now in its fifth year, this event lets you taste all of America right here in one location.  Inspired by the, a website dedicated to great food found in towns and along roadways across the country, the event is a true celebration of food that is inexpensive, unique, and downright delicious.

Because the event is here in NOLA, there will of course be a good population of area restaurants represented.  However there are attendees traveling upwards of 1500 miles to share their specialties at the event.  So far, 20 eateries have confirmed, and more are expected to be added before all is said and done.
