As any aficionado knows, coffeehouses are not just about great coffee. They’re also about ambiance, workspace, and food. Here are a few of our recos for where to find top-notch java with a shot of cool.

Mojo Coffee Roasters—located in a sweet old building on Magazine Street here in the Garden District—has a generous interior and a lovely patio that make lingering easy. Coffee is roasted in-house, staff is knowledgeable, and there are tasty pastries to enjoy with your drink. Bonus: late hours.

You can find French Truck Coffee in coffee shops throughout New Orleans, but better yet, visit the source on Magazine Street, right near the World War II Museum. Pastries are from the local Gracious Bakery. Stop by for Friday Happy Hour, noon to 1:00 p.m. and enjoy a free espresso.
