It’s never too early to get excited about one of the Crescent City’s best and brightest events: the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest, scheduled this year for April 28 through May 7.

What draws locals and folks from across the world is top talent, a knockout venue, and two long weekends of incredible music. (Be sure to book a room at the Inn soon, to make sure you don’t miss out on the fun.) This year’s lineup starts off with Harry Connick Jr. on day one and continues with all-star power ever day, through to Stevie Wonder on Saturday, May 6. Here are just a few of the other not-to-miss acts: Maroon 5, Usher & the Roots, Alabama Shakes, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Lorde, Pitbull, Widespread Panic, Darius Rucker, Dave Mathews and Tim Reynolds, Earth, Wind & Fire, Snoop Dogg, Meghan Trainor, and Buddy Guy. More than 80 performers will be taking the stage during the fest.

But while music is the main feature, it’s not the only one. This is also a showcase of Louisiana Heritage, so you’ll also find a wide range of artisans, crafts, and cuisine at the Congo Square African Marketplace, Contemporary Crafts, and Louisiana Marketplace. There will also be a Louisiana Folklife Village, a Native American Village, and The Grandstand where festival-goers can get a close-up look at Louisiana’s culture and cuisine in an air-conditioned space. And don’t miss the Exchange Pavilion where a different part of New Orleans’ cultural ancestry is celebrated each year. For 2017, the Festival will celebrate Cuba.
