Cool tunes and smokin’ hot dishes are on the schedule for the annual Crescent City Blues & BBQ Fest, October 13-15, 2017, a top draw for fans and musical talent alike. A bonus: the event is free.
Head down to Lafayette Square Park (catch the St. Charles Streetcar right in front on the Inn), where festivities get underway Friday afternoon. No matter what kind of blues you love—old-school junk, soulful gospel, sleek soul, or screemin’ guitar—you’ll find plenty to please you, and then some. Starting things off at a Friday big band party will be NOLA legends Deacon John Jump Blues, and the king of Bourbon Street, Luther Kent & Trick Bag.
Saturday and Sunday’s musical performances include well-known musicians King Edward, Louis “Gearshifter” Youngblood, Walter “Wolfman Washington and the Roadmasters, the New Soul Finders, and New Orleans great Guitar Lightning Lee. These and more old favorites and young upstarts will be performing on several stages. You’ll find a full listing of performances on the event’s website.
BBQ is the other major component of this fest, and there will be a big spread of great barbecue dishes in a variety of regional styles—and even options for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free diners.
While not promoted in the event title, the fest will also include a large curated arts market, featuring 24 of the top local and regional crafters of artworks and home furnishings.
