Here’s How To Ring In The New Year In New Orleans

Hard to believe, but 2018 is just around the corner. But before we get there, we need to party! Here are some top ways to celebrate the end of the old and the start of the new here in the Crescent City. Need some good jazz, funk or blues to ease you into the New Year? Stop by the Spotted Cat Music Club in the Faubourg Marigny District. It’s a long-time favorite that keeps on delivering sweet sounds. Once you’re down there on Frenchman Street, you can bar-hop to any number of other great music clubs.

Step back in time as you head into the future at BB’s Stage Door Canteen. This restaurant and club at the National World War II Museum will be ringing in 2018 with the Victory Swing Orchestra and its vocalists performing tunes of the 1940’s. The evening includes a complimentary Bellini, dancing and a midnight chocolate buffet. Retro glam attire suggested.

Earlier in the day, you can catch the 2017 Allstate Sugar Bowl Parade as it travels through the French Quarter and along Decatur Street to Canal Street. Another prelim to the big New Year’s Day game is the two-day, Allstate Fan Fest, an all-day football-themed party with pep rallies, bands, and activities. Come midnight on New Year’s Eve, station yourself in Jackson Square for the annual fleur-de-lis drop, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. Jaxson on the River, located right in the area, has top viewing and will be featuring a cocktail buffet, live music and a champagne toast at midnight.
